Rima

Rima is the more compact sibling to the Gema — a 3‑way loudspeaker that carries the same 1970’s design cues and acoustic philosophy in a smaller, more versatile enclosure. Classic hi‑fi of that era celebrated generous proportions and large bass drivers, and while Rima embraces that heritage, it delivers the same musical charm in a footprint suited to modern living spaces.

Bass duties are handled by the 10 inch SB29NRX75-8, a driver chosen for its excellent linearity, low distortion and ability to produce a surprisingly deep, controlled and tuneful low end, providing the familiar warmth and weight of vintage loudspeakers, just scaled to a more compact form.

The midrange is covered from 500 Hz up to 3 kHz by the 4 inch SB12NRX25-8, a paper‑cone unit known for its smooth response, low moving mass and natural tonal character. This driver brings clarity and openness to vocals and instruments, maintaining the articulate midband performance that defines the family.

To match the midrange’s clean presentation, the top end is handed over to the SB26STAC-C000‑4 soft dome tweeter. With its die‑cast aluminium faceplate, optimised rear chamber and full copper cap, it delivers a refined, extended treble that integrates seamlessly with the midrange for a cohesive, balanced sound.

The cabinet follows the same construction principles as the Gema: a well‑braced structure with a front‑firing slot port tuned to 30 Hz, and a dedicated sealed 3 L midrange. The enclosure combines 15 mm and 18 mm birch plywood, chosen for stiffness, stability and a clean, resonant‑free presentation.

A good starting point for placement is 2–3.5 m between speakers, with moderate clearance to side and rear walls. A stand or plinth elevating the speaker 20–25 cm from the floor, a 5–6 degree backward tilt and a slight toe‑in will typically yield the most coherent imaging. As always, room acoustics vary — experiment with orientation to suit your taste and listening space.
